Benjamin Géza Affleck, né le 15 août 1972 à Berkeley (Californie), est un acteur, réalisateur, scénariste et producteur américain. Il commence sa carrière enfant dans la série éducative The Voyage of the Mimi (1984-1988), puis apparaît dans des films comme Dazed and Confused (1993) et des œuvres de Kevin Smith (Mallrats, 1995 ; Chasing Amy, 1997). Il accède à la notoriété en coécrivant avec Matt Damon le scénario de Good Will Hunting (1997), qui leur vaut l’Oscar du meilleur scénario original. Il enchaîne avec des blockbusters tels Armageddon (1998), Pearl Harbor (2001) et The Sum of All Fears (2002). Après une période difficile marquée par des échecs comme Gigli (2003) et Daredevil (2003), il rebondit avec Hollywoodland (2006), récompensé par la Coupe Volpi à Venise. Passé à la réalisation, il signe Gone Baby Gone (2007), The Town (2010) et surtout Argo (2012), qui remporte l’Oscar du meilleur film et lui vaut le Golden Globe et le BAFTA du meilleur réalisateur. Il brille ensuite dans Gone Girl (2014), incarne Batman dans l’univers DC (Batman v Superman, 2016 ; Justice League, 2017) et livre des performances remarquées dans The Way Back (2020) et The Tender Bar (2021). Il réalise et joue dans Air (2023). Côté personnel, il a été marié à Jennifer Garner (2005-2018, trois enfants : Violet, Fin – anciennement Seraphina – et Samuel) et à Jennifer Lopez (2022-2025). Il est le frère de l’acteur Casey Affleck.
