Eric Marlon Bishop (né le 13 décembre 1967), professionnellement connu sous le nom de Jamie Foxx, est un acteur américain, auteur-compositeur-interprète, humoriste et animateur de radio. En tant qu'acteur, son travail dans le film Ray lui a valu l'Oscar et le BAFTA Award du meilleur acteur ainsi que le Golden Globe Award du meilleur acteur dans une comédie musicale / comédie. Il est également un musicien lauréat d'un Grammy Award, produisant deux albums qui ont figuré en bonne place sur le Billboard 200: Unpredictable, qui est en tête du classement, et Intuition. Foxx a été abandonné sept mois après la naissance, et a ensuite été adopté et élevé à Terrell par les parents adoptifs de sa mère, Estelle et Mark Talley. Foxx a eu une éducation baptiste stricte et a commencé les cours de piano à l'âge de cinq ans sur les ordres de sa grand-mère. Il a souvent reconnu l'influence de sa grand-mère dans sa vie comme l'une des plus grandes raisons de son succès. Lorsqu'il a découvert que les comédiennes étaient souvent appelées les premières à jouer, il a changé son nom pour Jamie Foxx, estimant que c'était un nom suffisamment ambigu pour rejeter tout parti pris. Il a choisi son nom de famille en hommage au comédien Redd Foxx. De 1996 à 2001, Foxx a joué dans sa propre sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show, et en 1992, il a fait ses débuts au cinéma dans Toys une comédie dirigée par Barry Levinson. Après Toys, son premier rôle dramatique est venu dans le film d'Oliver Stone en 1999, Any Given Sunday, dans lequel il incarnait un joueur de football américain qui faisait la fête. Foxx est depuis devenu un acteur dramatique respecté. Foxx a été présenté comme chauffeur de taxi Max Durocher dans le film Collateral aux côtés de Tom Cruise, pour lequel il a reçu des critiques exceptionnelles et une nomination pour l'Oscar du meilleur second rôle. Sa performance exceptionnelle, cependant, était son interprétation de Ray Charles dans le biopic Ray (2004), pour lequel il a remporté l'Oscar du meilleur acteur et le prix BAFTA du meilleur acteur dans un rôle principal. Foxx est le deuxième homme de l'histoire à recevoir deux nominations aux Oscars la même année pour deux films différents, Collateral et Ray. En septembre 2007, Foxx a reçu une étoile sur le Hollywood Walk of Fame.
